The Nissan Leaf will be in the showroom by the end of the year. From earlier reports it sounds as if most of the models being initially manufactured have already been reserved, but Nissan will likely have to make many more with the implementation of an ad campaign featuring Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong.

The ads feature Armstrong touting the benefits of clean air, the breakthrough technology of Leaf’s all-electric power and how Nissan is taking things to "the next level". Nissan Providence used car customers will be impressed with the amenities and power of this green car.

Armstrong is certainly a good choice to promote this ultimate green machine. He’s been running on green power for years and has a good rapport with the public, having shared his battle with cancer. Buyers of Providence used Nissan Murano will appreciate the range of the all-electric Leaf as well.

Another huge plus for the Leaf with the green movement is that is emits zero emissions. With a starting price of $25,280 (including a $7,500 government tax credit), the Leaf is priced for almost everyone and it is a very serviceable car.

The electric motor uses a 24 kw lithium-ion battery and has an onboard charger. It can make 100 miles without recharging and can reach speeds of 90 mph. Very impressive compared to what other cars can do on battery-only power.

The Leaf features power-assisted vented front disc/rear disc brakes and coasting regenerative brakes. There’s also a four-wheel ABS and Electronic Brake force Distribution and Brake Assist. A Portable Trickle Charge Cable (120V) is provided as well.

Moving the exterior, you will find 16-inch alloy wheels with P205/55R16 tires; LED headlights; chrome door handles; a cover and rear diffuser; rear spoiler; and duel power outside mirrors. Providence used car customers won’t believe how packed features the Leaf is.

Of course, Nissan has included its Navigation System in the Leaf. CARWINGS allows for remote connection to the vehicle so the battery charge can be monitored. There is an automatic temperature control system and digital meter cluster along with a trip computer.

And the list goes on. A palm-shift drive selector and cruise control allow for smooth driving and Nissan Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition and Bluetooth keep everything hands-free. The rearview mirror is auto dimming and there are power windows and locks.

Two cup holder and two bottle holders are the feature that sold me. (

I am amazed at how many cars I’ve owned that have no cup holders!) The Leaf offers a 12-volt power outlet and tilt steering column, but you will have to adjust the seats manually.

Technology features are plentiful with AM/FM/CD audio system with MP3/WMA CD playback and SM Satellite Radio with auxiliary jack and USB iPod connection. There are six speakers. Providence used Nissan Murano buyers will be at home will all these amenities.

As you would expect, Nissan also includes abundant safety features, with the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System, side-impact airbags and curtain airbags. Leaf comes with Vehicle Dynamic Control with Traction Control System, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System and Vehicle Security System.
